| Our CME Portal records show that, recently, a large number of CME Portal (https://portalrdc.cme.com) users certificates expired. Also, users were instructed to re-register their certificates to access the Portal website. As a result of several users having problems renewing their Portal certificates, this notice is being published to reiterate the procedure to be followed upon receipt of an email certificate expiration notice. One month prior to a Portal users certificate expiration date, our Portal Registration Tracking System sends out multiple email notices to the Portal user, with instructions on how to register their new certificates. In our ongoing effort to make the re-registration process more efficient and to clarify any confusion, we have included the following procedure, which is also published on our web site. CME Portal Certificate Renewal Procedure Removing the certificate from Microsoft Internet Explorer -- version 5.5 or higher: Open Internet Explorer. Select the Tools pull down menu from the toolbar. Select Internet Options from the drop down list. Click on the Content tab from the next window. Click on the Certificates button.
Important Note: Please check the certificate issued to you, and ensure that the certificate is expired. If the certificate is expired, continue with Step 6. If the certificate is not expired or if the expiration date isnt soon, simply delete the email. Select the certificate issued to you. Click on the remove button at the bottom of the screen. The following message will display: "You cannot decrypt data encrypted using the certificates. Do you want to delete the certificates?" Answer YES to this question. Click CLOSE and OK to return to your normal browser window.
Registering for a new certificate: Start your browser. Log in to https://registerrdc.cme.com. Enter your CME Portal user ID in lower case in the User Id field. For most users, the Portal Id is identical to the users CME 3270 Id. Enter your Portal password as is, because the password field is case sensitive. Enter your password. (Important: Your Portal password is not the same password that you use to log in to CME on-line applications (ACS, C21 etc.) Click on the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the page. You should receive a dialog box stating "Certificate has been successfully imported." Click the link at the top of the screen stating "enter cme portal," or you can access the Portal by simply navigating to https://portalrdc.cme.com.
Portal FAQ Q: Why I am receiving multiple emails to remind me to register my Portal certificate. A: These reminders are system-generated and will be created for each time you registered your certificate on the Internet. For example, some users register their certificates at home, office and their laptops or on PCs that no longer functioning. Q: I just renewed my certificate last week, and I am still receiving certificate notification emails! Is something wrong? A: No, you do not need to register this certificate since you already have done so recently. Q: I don't remember my portal login ID or password,...what should I do? A: Please contact CMEs Customer Support Group for assistance, as follows: Via Email: firmsupport@cme.com Via Phone: (312)930-3444 Q: When I try to register my id and password on the Portal, error 1B6, could not generate credentials displays. Also, the cryptographic provider pull down menu is blank. A: Check the user's windows version. In Windows XP or 2000, there is a security patch that prevents adding a certificate on the browser. Also, MS Explorer Service Pack II prevents users from registering. To see if a security patch is installed, go to the Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add Remove Programs. Determine if Q323172 security and other MS Explorer Service Pack caused the problem. If yes, the user will need to generate a certificate in the NT Windows environment and export it to his/her Win XP or Win. 2000. Please contact your IT staff, or follow the Internet browser software provider for certificate Export /Import instructions. Q: How long are certificates valid? A: One year from the time of issuance.
